Happy New Year from Uruguay!

We went around Montevideo the 1st day and then the famous Punta del Este the 2nd day. I hope to visit both Argentina & Uruguay again some day. I’ve always had a fascination with Buenos Aires. The “Paris of the South.”

I’ve always had a fascination with Buenos Aires. The “Paris of the South.” My friend and I had 7 days and we decided to spend the 1st 4 in BA and then take a boat to Montevideo (eventually flying home from there). I’m so glad we did. We stayed at a Holiday Inn & the manager was nice & very helpful. She helped arrange tours for us. We went around Montevideo the 1st day and then the famous Punta del Este the 2nd day. I hope to visit both Argentina & Uruguay again some day. The restaurants being closed between 4 & 8 PM was a difficult adjustment to make, but I blended in very well in both countries. So much so, that people approached me in Spanish several times. I wish my Spanish was better. In both countries they say “Ciao” (like in Italy & Portugal). There is definitely an Italian influence in both countries, but I would never confuse either country for Italy.

I grew up in a small borough outside of a small city in eastern Pennsylvania. As soon as I got my driver's license, I started going to see my favorite rock bands (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Slayer, Sleater-Kinney to name a few) and quickly realized that I wanted to spend as much time traveling as possible. After earning my bachelor's degree in Management/Marketing from Penn State University, I started traveling overseas and have since traveled to 38 countries spanning 5 different continents. I'm an urban explorer who loves using public transportation. My 4 favorite American cities are New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. & Boston. I'm a lover of food and culture who has been to every state except Alaska. Brazil and Russia are at the top of my bucket list. If you need advice on where to get the best pizza or French macarons, I'd love to help!
